This special string performance sponsored by the Syracuse Soft Matter program will include the World Premiere of a new piece for string quartet composed by Andrew Waggoner, Chair of Composition at the Syracuse University Setnor School of Music. The new piece, named Hexacorda Mollia, is inspired by the theme Order from Disorder that permeates soft matter physics.  The JACK Quartet is a young group based in New York City and dedicated to the performance of contemporary classical music. The concert will be followed by a discussion and Q&A session with the composer and Prof. Mark Bowick, Director of the Soft Matter Program, on the role of science and the natural world in inspiring music and the arts.

The concert will be at 8:00 pm in the Milton Atrium of the Life Science Complex at Syracuse University, Life Sciences Complex.  Parking info.
